TRS 18 spline tranny input??
A friend called me today and said he has a customer that needs a new coupler for a TRS setup that has a shaft with 18 teeth.. (is that what you call it) or splines.. too late to think.
Anyone ever heard of such an animal. It is suppose to be a Merc tranny that is behind this motor..
Thanks for any info..

The setup for the MerCtransII and the B/W are entirely different! The yoke (outdrive end) is female with the MerCtrans and plugs OVER the splined output shaft of the tranny. Further forward, the splined input shaft of the MerCtrans mates with a coupler plate bolted to the flywheel. The center splined part of that looks like the center of an automotive clutch disk. Just what is it that you are looking for? I don't have anything used that's any good but I can give you Merc. pt#'s. I just got a new Yoke this Fall so I think everything is still available. --- Jer

Thanks Guys!! I believe my friend is looking for a new coupler to fit that Merc tranny, but I am not sure what transmission it is. I will put a call into him tonite and maybe you two can hook up and he can be more specific. I believe he is in need of the clutch disk, but I will check with him to make sure. He was going to sign on to OSO and ask the question, but I went ahead and did it anyway.
Let me do some checking and get back to you guys. I do appreciate the help..
Dave do you have Mark's number so I can pass it along?

It is called a drive plate, part number 77480A1, but it is no longer made. We looked at having some built but the price is not very attractuve as there is not a lot of demand.

Dick, Mark at Kalamazoo Marine Gear can be reached at 269-345-0629. He might have one laying around. Otherwise I'd suggest getting the one your friend has rebuilt. I think Mel Riggs in Wisconsin might have a few but the last time I talked with him he wasn't really interested in selling them over-the-counter.
