Question Any comments?

Anybody have any comments or experiences with the new AFR Oval port heads? They come in 265cc and 290cc versions. They seem like they would be about the ultimate torque monster heads. They also have the typical AFR flow.

Anybody runnin em?

What are they going on??
for a 502 or 540 I would use the 315 CNC'd heads.

I was thinking for a 454 or maybe a stroked 496......

I thought the #'s looked pretty good for a 'small' high velocity head, but nobody seems to be impressed.....

Hey Madmax,
Did you pull your engine?
Planning for a little more Punch for next year?
Have you found a reasonable stroker kit for your 454?

I pulled my engine out a few weeks ago. Finally got my heads back from the machine shop and I bought a new cam shaft. Didn't go with the Lunati, I bought a custom grind from JK @ 1800runsnew.

Hey Pat.....!

Haven't pulled it yet, we are working on a friend of mine's first. He got a rebuilt 454mag that he's putting some lingenfelter ported merlin heads on. Should be a fun one. I was wondering if anybody has tried these, cause AFR is typically WAAAAAAAAAY behind in production, and they take forever to get your order through. Thought about ordering them soon, they look pretty good for a mild 454.

Looking forward to hearing how yours runs... only 4 more months till spring....

Max,

I thought you were going to try the
Edelbrock heads, did you change your mind ?

I'm contemplating them, I've heard some good
things about them, I just meed some more
"convincing" though.

Hey JT, yeah, I was gonna run the edelbrocks, but now I'm waffling all over the place.....

These afr's just came out from what I can tell, and the #'s look really good compared to the edelbrocks, plus the are smaller cc, so better port velocity. Only prob is they are twice as much $$....

gotta pay to play tho.

I'll make a descision someday.... winter gets the itch goin in me.!
