If you go Bravo, I would be interested in the SS.

Please try to get a build sheet from the previous owner. If Grimes did a buildup as opposed to a freshen-up, then they would have provided a build sheet listing components and such.

Your boat definitely came with a cast crank 3/8 rod bolt oval port motor. 5000rpm tops.

Depending on what Grimes did or what was replaced, etc. will have a lot to do with what advice we give you.

#1: Alpha SS is at its MAX with a 330hp big block.
#2: Q-Jet is a fine carb up to 500hp or so.
#3: MSD ignition will give you very very little in the way of performance increase on your motor. You'll do better by upgrading to a performance coil and some GOOD spiral plug wires (Jacobs, Accel). Merc wires don't last all that long for some weird reason...

Thanks Mike, I did and the lady told me she needs the motors orig. owner name, which I don't have. I called Gary Reagan(Reagan Marine) who installed the motor but he hasn't called back. May just run down Browns Bridge and drop in.

What I'm perplexed about right now is, if this was an oval port head motor, would it be running 70mph??? Reagan said it's a 415HP motor...?

Yes, they are a really well designed hull. I`ve done quite a bit of prop testing with mine. Ours has stock 350 Mag and the best prop with the standard Alpha is a 13 x23 Tempest and spins it 4900. It will run 63 on gps with just me and light fuel load.

What are you running for a prop? and as I said before, mine runs much better with the standard Alpha, planes, cruises much better and about 2 mph faster on top.

I have had good luck with a Hydromotive QIV 22 pitch. But with the new motor will be needing more, so will be selling the 22's soon.
Seems the Pachanga likes a prop that gives stern lift rather than bow.
