I have talked to a lot of 496 owners. The owners who do not race the engines...do not modify the engines and just enjoy them for what they are...seem happy.

The one's that push them hard or race are not as happy. The least happy are the ones who slap a blower on...the engines fall apart.

These are what I call "sport" engines not Offshore performance engines. They dont' hold a candle up to the 502's they replaced. Even 454's had more going in some respects.

I personally can not see ever owning one. A 525 is the new starting point. Illmors look even better these days.
