Hey Dyno ! I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet with any of the parts I've been stockpiling. I never got too good of a deal on most of it and it cost me a fortune to get alot of it shipped. I might assemble a few motors and try to sell them locally. I have many blocks of various bore sizes and both stock 330 parts and 365 mag parts.
I'm not in a hurry to sell anything. We own a kwik way boring bar and have already bored big blocks. Also paid $400 for a good hone setup. Also do head work incl.
bronze guides. I really have to try to recoup some of my money by doing some work. I basically have a garage and basement full of motor parts. I have at least 20 sets of 454 heads. I guess I went overboard with my lust for parts. I do have some L29 MPI top end gasket sets that I would sell. Many times I bought motors , only to tear them down and find the blocks are too badly rotted with a hole in a cylinder not worth fixing, or most of the time the heads were rotted bad, especially due to bad exhaust. I've thrown many parts on the scrap pile, that I thought were good when I bought them. 330hp intakes usually were rotted under the t-stat. Most didn't pass my slight hammer test. I always am doing motors but, lately there has been a rash of small block customers, and people with rotted transom assemblies and I have at least 6 customers lined up that are on hold due to bad weather. One good thing is when I need something, I already have it and dont have to waste time shopping around. I have a file cabinet full of gaskets. Another full of valve train. I have a closet in my house full of valuable parts that I wouldn't leave in my garage or basement(salt air live next to boatyard) ,and even have many sets of pistons and other goodies under my bed ! I have a '95 gen 5 apart, I'm not sure what I'll do with that either. Because of the distance between us the shipping would be a killer. Maybe if you need something I might help? BBB

I order a short block from Dyno-Flo, $4100 out the door with tax. I went down to thier shop, they have a pretty big selection of parts and seem like good guys. Was told they were running a special on 572's right now cheaper than the 540's.

Will the accessories from a 454/420 work on say a 540 or 572?

heyy I have a 1989 Doral Phazar which had a 454 Mag witch had 365 Horse power. The guy we bought it from just got it rebuit. He said he got it Bored and Stroked to a 502 and balanced. He says it has a 850 cfm holley carb on it and has the factory heads on it. It sounds great and everything so the heads should be fine. Does anyone think they might be able to just take a guess if they absoultly had to just around were the horsepower might be around. I was thinking 450 to 550 but I wanted somone elses opinion. If it helps the boat is 22 ft 5 inches weighs 3650 pounds and revs at 5800- 6000 rpm with a 23'' pitch mirage prop 3 blade and we need a new prop so its reving at 5200- 5300 at most 73 - 76 mph.
