Does anyboby have the crane part # for 96, 500 carberated, cannot find # on old cam, and crane can't help me or doesn"t want to, to protect., merc.? trying to buy from crane rather than merc.

It's in the new March 2004 issue of POWERBOAT in Bob Teague's column.
HP 500 carb
Gen V = 139611 (This will not come up on Crane's website, so it may be a misprint.)
Gen VI (hyd roller) = 169611 (.576"/.598"; 222/230 deg; 110 LSA)
HP500 EFI:
169621 (.598"/.610"; 230/236 deg; 114 LSA)
He also lists #169731 as a nice upgrade to the EFI cam. I think this is a misprint and should be #168731.
Check out pgs 20 - 22 of the magazine. It may be helpful to you if you are rebuilding.
