New 496 aluminum heads

Raylar,
Do you plan on getting test data using stock heads with:
Intake only
Cam only
Intake and Cam
It would be good to see what each of your new pieces add in power.

Yes we started with perfectly stock motors and we are running each dyno run with only single changes to establish what each change is worth in HP and Torque. Thats whats taking so long and why we are spending a Jillion dollars on dyno time. We unlike Mercury plan to release all the torque and horsepower levels we achieve on each test. These tests include: stock 340HP truck version, 496Mag versions and 496HO versions, each with heads only, heads and rockers, heads and new cams only, and finally heads, new cams and our new intake manifold. We will also do dyno runs on 496Mag and 496 HO's with intake change only to see if there is anything to be gained here. I doubt much, because the GM heads and the intake manifolds are just about worthless and good heads and intake manifold are the keys, if they both don't due deep breathing excersises together the motor won't develop anywhere near its potential.
Well back to the dyno,
Thanks,
Ray

Raylar,
Thanks for the reply. As always, you are doing a complete job, just like you did on the head design.
I will keep checking your web site for the hp/torque data for the combo's to decide which setup I want to purchase.

We actually designed these new heads so they can be adapted to the older big blocks like the 454 and 502's but since the intake angle is 50 degrees it will take a new intake to make them work on an old non-tall deck motor and we have not developed that part yet. We are working on that and it should be out by the end of the year. Thanks for your interest!

It seems the 496's respond very well to upgrades in terms of HP gained per dollar spent. Better than most other engines maybe even. Why is that? Oh Ray, what is your take on using synthetic oils in them since you have a lot of experience with these engines I would like to know.
