CMI Tailpipes

If you look close at my pic, the rod is welded to both inner and outer pipes for a somewhat solid joint. But the welds are not on top of each other to allow the rod to 'flex' with the pipe movemments. Otherwise they would viberate against each other and annoy the heck out of ya. I added the outside welds for that very reason.

The pipes are currently 34 inches. I am cutting them down to about 16 inches. I found a welder who could weld the restriction, but he was not comfortable he could make a straight cut with a cut off wheel. I then took to them to an engineer facility. They could cut them but they wanted $600 to engineer a solution to the water restriction. Had 4 of them cut for $50, now I need to take them back to my welder. At this rate, I could have driven them up to CMI myself and saved time. I'll post some pictures when they are done.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
