fuel injection conversion, what's bets for the $
I bought a 390 express Sea Ray with twin 454, 340 Hp.
I would like to convert to fuel injection. Holley makes a throttle body for $1,400..
But can not use O2 sensor without modifying exhaust for sensor.
without sensor, no real way to setup ECM. thus this sucks for all that money not be able to tune.
This system must be installed in the boat. I will not pull engines just to Dyno to calibrate ECM.
Any suggestions what is better or less $ that works well.
Thanks B3

Why not just rebuild old Carbs, they can't be worn out.
I just thought Injection is the way to go for economy.
I am pushing 16,400 Lbs with two BB. this seems hard to me.
I must think this out now. More homework.

Finally found one, congrats! Do carbs need re-building? I would not go thru all the expense for EFI conversion. Where you keepin it? Carb shop in Milw will re-build but look at cost of new vs. rebuild carbs. If not that much more, go new. They made tons of those with 454's so sit back and relax while you're underway. Hope those stringers ck'd out for ya..

Keep the carbs or trade in your old motors for new EFI one's. Your old motors may be worth more than you think & the extra cash for the trade might not be all that bad.

look for a take off, somone who is going to do a 330 efi on roids, you can find the complete merc efi for probably $500ish from someone going to hop up a 330 with manifold/carbs/cam etc 454 mag take offs can be had for $750ish but you would need a new cam and to up the compression as well for it to work properly

If I was set on going injected, I'd seriously consider the Edelbrock system. You only need the sensor for closed loop operation. In the marine enviroment, it's ok to run the system on open loop with no feedback.

Cord:
Find someone who is adding a blower system to their 500HP or 525 HP engine, buy the whole manifold system, wiring and all from them, don't forget the electric fuel pump and regulator. Not that difficult a conversion if you get all the neccessary pieces. Talk to a shop thats done this type of conversion, they will help you get dialed in.
Good Luck

DownTown42, & Cord , always a pleasure!.
Yeah, inspection turned out awesome on this 390 EX.
I was really impressed on the Quality of Sea Ray.
One sweet @ss boat. I just need to pep it up a little.
18 k is just to slow to cruise at, more like 23 maybe 24k is better.
DownTown42, stringers are great, this is a 1 owner Wi boat from sister bay. Purchased from Skipper buds in 1987. This boat has EVery Option, even a fricken onboard Vacuum system. Genset is a 8 KW Westerbeak with 6.5 hours, engines 640 hours. All is in perfect shape. No dockrash, or botom buggered up. Seeems as if the first coat of bottom paint was put on last year.
I am very happy. out of about twelve 390 EX, this was the best price/condition/fresh water boat out there.
I found what I wanted with tons of Homework.
all in all. Sweet. Lake Michigan, here comes a bad boy.
P/s Complete with every electronic toy made for Man.
