I am a new owner of an older 30 velocity with twin 1991 Johnson 225 outboards. I am looking for advice on what i can do to tune them up and get some extra power. I am already going to change to new plugs and plug wires. I have added carbon block to fuel and carburatuer cleaner. But I could use some help on what else can be done to bring these babies up to their full potential.
Please help a fellow outboards guy.
Thanks.

Before you do anything to them do a good compression test and see what it looks like. There is no sense trying to tune if the compression is weak. I would also recommend a good decarbon job be done (use a spray in fluid on each cylinder, let it sit, and then run it.) If you can get good gas one of the things that will wake up and outboard is more compression. A slight shave on the heads will do that but you have to run good gas.
I also recommend Scream and Fly-those guys are the best when it comes to modding outboards.
