Saltwater Flush ....
#2
I flush with fresh water for 10 minutes per motor, then run Salt Away through it untill it foams out of the exhaust. When it starts foaming I shut the motor down so it has a chance to nuetralize the salt.

Go to MSDGuardian web site ... great system... can aslo be used to winterize.
Then get with Old Timer at Trick marine. I am about to get him set up as a dealer. ..... OT willing that is.
I am a dealer ... but this is up Fred's alley.

Does anyone know what the ingredient is that neutralizes salt in Salt Away / Salt Terminator?
These products work very well, but I'm sick of paying so much for them... I use a lot of this stuff, it has to be cheaper to buy the "active" ingredient and make it yourself.
I suppose I could look up the patent info as it should be listed there. Any idea how to look this up?

You can do a simple test:
Put a nail in a jar with salt water and a nail in a second jar with salt water and Salt-Away.
After this test you will allways flush with Salt-Away.

Salt removal
Soap... true...
The "Water Wetter" used in fighting fires... is an additive that works well in removing salt buildup. It is very cheap in gallon quantities by comparison to many products.
I was gettign it form the fire supply locally until closed and looking for another source. I would use an 'Ortho' dispenser that has hose ends on both sides.
With the guardian system.... the engine does not have to be started and it disperses pressurized water directly to the critical areas of the engine through a transom mount hose end. The alternative is a salt shaker pump and timer and use your onboard water ... flush while in tow or while in the water at shut down.
