Need Merc PN
Hi folks, I need a hand here, if I may. I need the Merc Part number for a kit that lets you transform the drive trim from a CRT system to a throttle mounted system. I know Merc makes a kit for this, I just cannot find it.
It is for a Early 90's 42 Fountain with twins....
Thanks,
Allan

Yes, I think so. I do not have the answers for you, sorry. It is a standard 4 stick setup. I have not seen it in person, I am trying to help out a steering system customer of mine. I will get the answers for you by tomorrow.
Thank you very much for the help, I'll check back tomorrow.

Allan, I did somewhat the same thing on my last Fountain. It had the CRT buttons control the drive, But I wanted a throttle trim for the tabs cause I hated reaching for the dash everytime. You can use either drive or tabs, just have to tap into the appropiate wires.I ordered the parts from BAM for right at $100. This was to install the switch in the Kiekxxx shifters. Since you are going to control twins drives with a single switch,(I assume?) you will need to order 2 diodes. This way the throttle switch will operate both drives at same time, and also will allow for separate trimimg from the dash switches.
Is this what you are trying to accomplish?
I'm using the throttle switches for tabs, crt for drive.......

trim switch parts
My throttle had the hollow handle, so I just used it and made the wire tube myself vs. the $$$$ for one with the tube welded to the front edge for the wires.
pt#'s needed for modifying Mercs throttles .......2,3,4,5,6, both #9's.
Might be alot easier to just buy the clamp on mounted switch. I fyou install one with 2 switches, then no need for diodes. But if using the single switch controlling 2 items, then 2 set s of diodes.

Great info. Yes, that is what we are trying to do. Go from a CRT to drive trim on the throttles. I was told there was a kit for this.
I think I have the info I need to figure this all out now. Thanks a ton. What you have done is the same thing I am looking to help him do, just with the drive as opposed to the tabs.
Thanks for all your help guys, I appreciate it.
