You guys overrate the Merc tools too much. The 1/2" allen socket worked perfect. Nice and snug. Everything looked like new. The bellhousing threads would have pulled way before the socket wrench would have rounded out the stud.

I've torched them and banged on them with an impact wrench befor they've come loose. An allen wrench would never survive that.
