I'm using 10 lines and 1/2" in and out but there are lots of choices and lots of $100 + filters that won't work. Aeromotive reccomends the perma cool high flow good for 1500 GPM and about $35 with the filter.

I used the one from Eddie marine with good results. The Keith Eickert model is the best looking, but I chose to save money.(So that I could spend it on a new propeller, Imco lower , external steering....man the procharger was just the start of the expense) The Eddie marine rig looked great because it was black and the stainless lines set it off.

You can remove the plugs on a stock unit and drill them out to 1/2" and retap for your fittings. this is all the others are. don't cost a thing! I don't know about the filter itself though.

You can pick up a Permacool housing and filter with 1/2" fittings on it from either Jegs or summit for $31.99. At that price, it actually is less than the stock system from Merc! I just bought 2 of them last week from Jegs. Lots of places sell the same thing for twice the price. It's cast aluminum, so if you need something fancy looking like purple billet aluminum, go to Eddie Marine or someone like that and pay $100. Mine will be sprayed black to match the motors.
These were recommended to me by Nickerson Performance.

I've been stressing over this same subject for a couple of months now, as I too am moving up to Aeromotive A1000's from Holley Blue's. I run HP500 carb motors, which are basically stock with an 850 carb and stock HP500 cam, slight head work.
I'm setting up my A1000's with bypass/return regulators, and have 1/2" lines from the tank up to the stock Merc filter/separator. These have 3/8" NPT fittings. I come out of these with adapters to AN-10, AN-10 thru the pump and into the reg., then AN-6 to the carb, and an AN-8 for a return line. This return line is 5/8" and dumps back into the tank via a tee in my fuel fill hose.
I recognize that the stock Merc filter/separator with it's 3/8" NPT sizes is a restriction, but my motors have been making fine power with them all along. I am also dealing with space limitations, and the "shortie" filter helps.
Really, the kicker for me is the Merc Racing 600SC uses these same 1/4" lines and 3/8" NPT fittings, same filter/separator mount, and they are driving a blower. Merc is more than conservative with everything they do, so I can't believe they would set up a stock motor package that is on the edge of fuel starvation.
Just for chits and grins, I'm boring out my stock separator mount inlets/outlets to 1/2" NPT, but I will continue to run the stock filter canister. Again, space is my motivator.
Cheers,
Brian

The only way that you can be sure is to put a fuel pressure gauge up by the carb. FYI - last year I was running the stock Merc filter setup (previous owner put bigger fuel lines on, but still left the filter housing stock??), and my fuel pressure never fell below 7 PSI w/ blowers. I am currently replacing all the lines, so that is why I went with the upgraded fuel filters and housings so it is done right.
