Stingray Cuddy 20 ft.
I have a good friend looking for a lake boat.He found a 1987 Stingray cuddy cabin with a 260 merc/alpha drive. He claims the boat looks great and the price is right.I know nothing about Stingrays .Has anyone had any experience with these?

A friend of mine had a '87 20' w/260. It seemed like a decent boat. It ran about 60 mph.
Another friend had a '22 w/330 big block. It ran about 65 mph. He did end up having his transom redone due to some rot.
They are fast boats on flat water but they don't handle rougher water very well. I haven't priced them but I think 10-12K sound a little high for that vintage. I think my friend with the 22/big block only paid around 13K. That was about seven years ago and the boat was low hours and clean.

I bought a 220 SX new in 1997 for $24K including an eagle trailer, so $12K is way high for a 1987.. I would think $6-$8K depending on condition. My boat was a good lake boat, alpha and 350 mag ran 60.
