prop experts....mich wheel rapture vs mirage
my dealer can get me a new rapture for about the same as a used mirage, he says they are basically the same prop just the merc stuff is overpriced. Im running about 5100 rpm with my 21 mirages on my 29 non step Fever with twin sbc's, I originally called him about a set of used 23 Mirages to get my rpm down to 4800 then he starts talking about the Raptures....anyone have any experience with them?...............thnks Doug

What year is your boat and which motors do you have? Which drives do you have?
The prop that is closest to the Mirage Plus is the Quicksilver Thunderbolt. The Rapture is the same design theory but it's not exactly the same as the Mirage Plus.
With the prop industry you usually get what you pay for.

oh yeah, Im running plain 21 mirages, not mirage plus and the drives do not counter rotate......was running a set of merc 4816320A4 23P that came with the boat.....half the boat still in the water and could only pull 4200rpm.....Mirages have about 3mph more, way more bow lift, lets the boat get up and run, just too much rpm......doug

Your original props were the Mercury Vengence.
I'm surprised you saw a difference of 900 rpm between the 21 Mirage and the 23 Vengence. It makes me believe the 21 Mirage's are slipping a little too much. A cost effective solution to at least try would be to check the 21 Mirage you have now to make sure they are true and then add some cup to them. This would reduce the rpm to the 4800 level where you want them to be. With the added cup your old props would be about the same as the Mirage plus.
It's possible your props are operating in a partially cavitating environment. With the addition of just a little cup, to eliminate the cavitation, you may find your rpm will drop down right where you want it to be. You would end up with a great set of props at a fraction of what a new set would cost you.

I thought of adding cup but didnt think it would take me down 300 rpm but I never thought of the possible cavitation......Like you say sticking with the 21s is a cost effective solution and Im certainly up for that.......the advice is much appriciated thanks....doug
