Default 1/2" drives toe out

Is that too much? Been searching and find straight to 1/8 seems to be the census, but toed in.

toe out= props closer than drives leading edges??

'99 32' stepped hull, props now spinning out for manuverabilty.

Thanks

I thought I heard different boats like different settings. A 1/2" sounds like a lot. Experiment a little.

Jerry,
It's been my understanding that if your props are spinning out, you would set the toe in and the torque offsets it. If the props are turning in, you would toe out.

I'm certainly no expert, but I just happened to read that in Powerboat when I was on the crapper last night.

I just adjusted mine to 1/16" toe out. (props closer than leading edge) It was almost 3/4" toe in stock. Boat handles better now, and "maybe" a touch more top end.

Tried them at no toe, and boat had an odd feel to it.

Ahhh, the home library. Thanks for the visual.

Also, mine is drilled and has a set screw to lock the adjustable end down to the rod, this in addition to the lock nut. Is this general practice? Seems overkill.

Thanks All

I don't think so Tim.

If both tie rod ends are secured in the drive end caps, how can it possibly loosen up any? Only way to adjust the length is for the adjustable end to screw in or out. And that requires the large bolt to be removed from the drive cap. Fountain is all screwed up on this one.

Thanks though.
