1998 Dodge Ram 1500
When driving down the road, the air bag light will come on and go out. light comes on once in a while, but stays on only about 5 seconds.

Yup, has to be scanned. Likely a loose connector in one of the harnesses, gets open when going over bumps, then resets. There should still be a code stored as to where it is.

When the light comes on,try blowing the horn.If the
horn doesnt work,it most likely is a bad clock spring.
Chrysler has had alot of problems with them. If
that isnt the problem, you will have to go to the
dealer because chry. Air bag info is proprietary, and
isnt supported in aftermarket scanners, such as a
snap-on or Otc. Have to have a DRB to read codes and
info.
