Noisy lifter...
454/330
Boat sat all winter and then for another month while I did some mechanical work. Lifters/cam have only a few hours.
Now it sounds like I have a noisy lifter (loud clicking...not an exhaust leak). A mechanic implied the lifter may not be "pumping up" due to sitting for an extended period. Same mechanic suggested adding tranny fluid to the motor oil, running the motor to get the oil pressure up then drain and re-fill.
???
Thanks in advance,

Try adjustuing it. If it only has a few hours on it, then it could have been right on the edge of ticking before and with the first start up, it could have possibly worn just the fraction more.

Scratch that anyway. Rereading your post, I'm 99% sure you have a non adjusable valvetrain.
Could be a sticking lifter, not pumping up, and it may just go away. You could try running a quart of tranny fluid in your oil for an hour. It will help unclog/unstick the lifter if that is the case.
How long did you run the engine??? Long enough to heat up to temp???
