Mikes 280 Made me think of the ovious reason no one has mentiond it ,weight the weight is not on the valve spring or lifters alowing things to move faster with less spring presure.

I have Dart Iron Eagle Heads, aren't they 7/16" rocker studs?

The Jesels or T&Ds seem like a no brainer as far as performance to regular rockers. Like I posted earlier, its the only part of the engine I don't trust.

I'll run the boat this summer with the rockers and pull the heads at the end of the year. Not the time to pull apart a running engine in the middle of May!!

Thanks for the input everyone!!

I've never broke a Crane Gold or Harland Sharps rocker so I can justify the cost but then again I'm dutch......

If you broke 3 guideplates, you have a serious geometry problem. It is very common on aftermarket BBC heads to have to cut the guideplates, fit them, then weld them back. Cylinder head mfg vary so much from each other. You need to check the heads in the area where the pushrond goes through the head for shinny spots. If found the pushrod is flexing and hitting the head.

Jesels are a very nice piece, so is T&D. I would not go with the sportsman series. They are fine for bracket racing car but for an endurance application, you need to up grade to the competition series. Shaft systems do not require guideplates.

Thanks Chis -

I called Dart and they recommended the Comp Cams guides I recently installed, but I'm stil leary about them. The previous guides were cut and welded, but I'm sure the engine builder didn't mark them when they rebuilt the heads. Thats why the broke.

I'll run the comp cams guides and see if there are problems. I did have to grind a couple of them to get better alignment.
