cooling system on supercharged engines
On saturdays trial run I notice the engine water temps are higher
then last year approx 150 degrees.
The changes are last year was normally asperated
with cross overs. no t-stats Temperture sendor was in front of the
manifold. Water temp was 100 degrees oil temp was over 200.
This year changes are as follows added Blowers, intercoolers Temperture
sendor is now located in the rear of heads. water temp is now
150degrees, oil is 180 degrees.
I am double guessing my work how it was originally plummed.
I was almost positive it was. Thru hull pickup, Strainer, oil cooler,
trans cooler, suctionside of raw waterpump then out of raw water
pump to crossover then out of manifolds to the waterjacketed headers
then out transom dumps. water pressure is approx 25lbs wide open.
Same as last year.
Does this sound normal 50 plus more degrees adding blowers. (keep in mind
temperture sensor is in the back now. Headers are also almost to hot to touch.
Or maybe I didnt assemble it the original way and it was actually.
Thru hull pickup to strainer to suction on rawwater pump then to oil cooler
then trans cooler then to crossover etc...
What do you guys think am I loosing it????

Re: cooling system on supercharged engines
most likely caused by the different location of the sender. i'd be happier with 150 degrees rather than 100 degrees, which is way too cold for a supercharged motor (or any motor) to generate it's peak horsepower.

Re: cooling system on supercharged engines
I think the relocation is the issue. Not that I'm an expert but isn't the water heated by the time it makes its way to the rear ? If so wouldn't this account for the change in temp?

Yes I would think temperture sendor is playing a role.
But what really concerns me is the oil temp not going past 190
Thats why I am second guessing my plumbing
