Default MO / LOTO H20 Patrol Question

I think this fits the "spirit" of this forum . . . My father has a cruiser that is USCG documented, and thus has no numbers. It is kept in Kansas, so he has no parks and wildlife sticker on it (not required). Is this going to be a problem in MO? My boat is at LOTO, is documented and has the MO stickers on the bow- so no problem. Any immediate help appreciated- he is leaving for the lake tomorrow. Thanks.

It is required to have the USCG approved name & homeport. That being said, I was pulled over because I had an out of state homeport on my cruiser. When he asked for my documentation, I pointed out that I had MO state numbers and a MO tag on the front, it was no longer documented.
Will he be ticketed, no. Will he be pulled over, maybe.

Oh yeah, and when I moved here on a Labor day weekend, I was pulled over for out of state numbers and tags. He asked how long since I moved to MO, you have 30 days to change registration, I told him about 6 hours.
No ticket again.

In order to avoid payment of a delinquency fee ($10.00 for each 30 days not to exceed $30.00), a Missouri resident must make application for a Documented Boat Certificate of Registration within thirty (30) days after acquiring or bringing the vessel into this state. A non-resident must make application within sixty (60) days after acquiring a vessel in this state or if the vessel will be kept in this state for more than sixty (60) consecutive days.

So if it is documented and is here less than 60 consecutive days you are OK. If it's here longer you must register it with MO and pay the fee. Any documented boat has a possibility of being stopped. Not having numbers on it makes it a good excuse, just have everything in order.
