In need of special washers, can anyone help?
I have been looking for a special sized washer or shim that I need for a special project. Looking for a washer that is 2.250" OD; 1.250" ID and about .060" thickness. Plain ole steel will work. Does anyone have access to a punch with those diminisions? I used to work in a factory and they had, I believe it was called a "coping press"?? You could toss in a big diameter punch and do the OD, then a smaller punch to do the ID. I have looked into having dies made, but that is pretty costly. If anyone can help me out, I would appreciate it.
I have found a fender washer that is 2" OD, but nothing 2.250". I can cut down the thickness on my surface grinder, but a large washer takes for ever to make that thin..
You can email/pm or reply..
Thanks in advance..
Dick

You might try;

The web site says to contact them if other size is needed.

McMaster Carr (Mcmaster.com) has them in .048 and .075 thickness if that will work. The plain .075 is 97063A436. They have them in zinc plated too.

If you need smooth edges, the rotobroaches will do the job. They are like hole saws, but have more distinct cutter teeth. They typically have a 1/4 center arbor. You have to cut OD first, then clamp disc and do the inside. These cutters are much faster and cleaner than hole saws and good for many more holes. They cost more money. See McMaster or a local Milwaukee drill dealer, or industrial tool supply.
I see the problem was solved by a simple purchase. Use this hint for future, special needs.

You could have them deburred in a tumbler. I used to do this when I worked in a huge metal shop. We had built a huge tumbler that could handle a whole barrel of small parts. BBB
