Building new motors. I hear braided is not Coast Guard approved. Does this matter? Is there a reason? Rubber is boring and steel braid looks great. I could get approved rubber and add braid dressing but I want to do what is best.
Any recommendations?

The coast guard is concerned about the permablity of the fuel line. That's why the braided is not approved. That said, I have braided with AN fittings on my boat and would do it again.
