New boat need power/high altitude prop
Just took delivery on a Velocity VR1 with a 525 XR drive. Factory Wet tested boat at 88 mph at 5450 rpms using a labed Hydromotive 29. I occasionally go to Tahoe I believe the altitude is 6228.
Prev boat a Velocity 260 with HP500 I ran a labed Bravo One 26. worked great.
The VR1 is two feet longer and 500 pound more.
I was thinking go with the Bravo One 26 or maybe a 28.
Any thoughts.

If you figure a power loss of about 1.5% per 1000 feet then you would have a decrease in power of about 9-10%. A pitch reduction of about 2" should net the same rpm but with about 6 mph less speed.
If you are going with a Bravo 1 then I think you need something between a 28 and 26. The 28 may run a little low and the 26 may hit the rev limiter. It wouldn't hurt the 525 to run at 5200 with a 28. Why not go with another Quad IV if you like the way the boat rides now?

On my 29 Fountain I use a 29 Hyrdomotive at sea level and a 26 Bravo One up at Lake Tahoe. I run 89 at sea level and 80 at Tahoe.

Fountaineer,
Thanks for the input. I appreciate real time experience. especially one the is relativly compariable.
Kind of back and forth on the prop 27 quad IV vs 26 Bravo One.
The Bravo One should give me more lift and let me work the power band a little more.

For whatever reason, the Bravo One prop works better for me at Tahoe. I can get on plane much quicker with the Bravo One at the Lake.
