Are TRS drives shiftable?
Do you need transmissions with TRS drives? What are a pair of TRS drives worth in good condition? Could they be replaced with #6's easily?

Yes they do require transmissions. The TR stands for transmission I think. The S stands for sport. Just what I have heard.
Dont know what they are worth but Merc has either stopped supporting them or will stop in the near future.
Dont think you can swap them for #6's easily. The 6 is a surface piercing drive requiring a different X.

Re: Are TRS drives shiftable?
There is an early speedmaster lower that will bolt to the TRS upper but you still need a tranny if you don't want to go forward every time you hit the key and yes, you will have X dimension issues. Value? Depends on condition and how bad someone needs one. I myself would be interested in a decent RH unit as a back-up since parts ARE getting a bit more scarce and pricey, but I really like the set-up and want to stick with it. --- jp

Another option the thr TRS is the Konrad. Do a search on OSO for Konrad, there is a lot of info here. It will bolt up to the TRS transome assembly and is a little over an inch shorter. The only speedmaster drive that will bolt up is and ssmII, but that is 2" longer than the TRS. So, unless you raise yourr X, you will go slower.
a #3a or # 6 you need a whole new transome assembly and about $20k more cash.
