crank sensor failure 496 HO?
Is it symptomatic of a crank or knock sensor failure for the engine to quit, have a no start for about 20 mins, then start and run about 5-10 mins before shutting down again. Had come off plane after a hard run and was manuevering around for the return when it qiut. No alarms, temp and oil pressure looked good on restart. No stuble, no BS, just a stall as if I had shut the key off. Was able to restart and run fine short term after a wait 2 or 3 times, the last one saved for backing into the slip! Never tried to put the boat on plane, as I didn't want to have a stall on one side, on plane. This is the "limp" deal right?

Re: crank sensor failure 496 HO?
I had the same problem on my 33. When they hooked the computer up it showed a bad crank sensor so they replaced it and it did not cure the problem. I found on here where others where having the same problem and it ended up being an electrical issue. The dealership went through all the harness connections on the engine having the problems and this solved it. They never found one they actually felt was really loose but one of them was apperently not seated or connected fully. Do a search on "crank sensor" and you will find my previous post.
