My best guess for a starting point would be a 26 Bravo or 25 Hydromotive. What is your Max RPM (rev limiter) going to be set at?

Re: What prop do I need?
I run a 25 Hydromotive on a 251 convinsor. The hydromotives seem to work better on the checkmate's as far as stability and ride. Good luck. PM me if you want to talk about specifics. Dave

Rev limiter??? What's that?
I bought a used T-bolt system (Dist, harness, module) for this thing and it wasn't part of the deal. I do know they are high dollar from Merc.
I know I will need one too save the motor during air time but is it necessary for the ignition system to work? I would like to get the boat wet again before the end of July

Eric Garrett, very good friend of mine, formerly here on the Potomac, now lives in TX.
They had a 1989 Checkmate 251, with 500HP, bumped up to 565HP.
I am pretty sure his favorite was a worked 28 Hydromotive.
