Water Temp Guage
Splashed the boat for the first time this season this past weekend. Everything was great except the water temp guage wouldn't move. Haven't had time to check it out but I suspect the sender. I'm running the stock Medallion guage used by Formula in 1986. Do I need a sender matched for this guage or are they all alike?

An off the shelf sender should work fine.
Did you verify the sender wire and the guage by shorting the sender to the block?
(guage will peg....) or checking continuity between the gauge and the sender lead at the sender?
Just curious... I had a loose connector that killed the gauge once, wasn't the gauge, wasn't the sender.

Another way to check would be to connect a long test lead to the end of the sender wire at the helm, and then do a continuity check with a VOM between the helm and the end of the lead at the sender. If you have continuity it's the sender, if you don't it's the wire.
