I have an HD Gimble on my new boat. I looked to see if it had the red dot indicating that it is the correct bearing for an XZ or XR drive, it did not.
I pulled the bearing and took some measurements, it would seem that this is a better bearing than the new XZ bearing I just purchased. Does anyone have experience with the HD Gible and bearing? Is this the proper bearing for an XZ drive?
See the attached sketch for the dimensional data. The XZ is 1.167" and 1.027" The HD is 1.311" and 1.088"

The bearing for an X series drive has the center race shorter on the side facing the u-joint to allow for the slightly longer x series ujoint assembly. The center race used to be the same on front and back. Hope this helps.

What he said, the basic bearing is the same.
