Quick or Quiet???
i just got a set of quick an quiet exhaust diverters (thanks again ED ) an had some questions about normal operation. these look like they will be running in quiet mode with the pump off (they are the air operated type) and i will have to turn the pump on to open the diverters to the thru hulls. is this how they all operate? i would rather have it loud all the time and only run the pump when i want it quiet, which wont be very often. can they be converted to run this way? thanks all
edit- actually i think they are silent choice. whichever one the Merc ones are

Re: Quick or Quiet???
You just run the pump for a couple of seconds, long enough to supply air to the air cyl. An check valve will hold the pressure. The cyls. are spring return. Use a Mometary On/Off/Mometary On switch.
Yep....... Silent Choice

Re: Quick or Quiet???
All the Merc pump units have a pressure relief valve (#11) and a solenoid (#2) mounted on the plate with the pump. When the switch is held on, the pump will run and supply the air to switch the divertor valves. As soon as the valves have switched, release the switch(which shuts off the pump) and the solenoid will hold pressure. The relief valve will release any excess pressure and is done automatically. These some times leak, but are very easy to clean. To switch the exhaust back, simply hold switch other direction, which just energizes the solenoid and vents the aire pressure. The spring return in the air cyls. will flip the valves closed (quiet)
Just need air lines and switch, provideing your pump does have the relief valve and solenoid. It's really a very basic system, but it needs to be leak free. Otherwise any leaks will allow the exhaust to go to quiet mode. Air pressure holds the exhaust in the loud mode.
