Drive oil reservoir puking!

I am with RHC on this one. You may have a problem, the heat will cause expansion and overflow. Drain and inspect oil and magnets. If you feel lucky swap bottles and see if it still pukes. I had an XZ puke twice and then lock up due to a pinion bearing. There was no metal flakes or chunks, just dirty oil as the pinion ground away to fine powder.

I had the same problem with a bravo III and went through all of the above suggestions. Then someone informed me that the cap has a special gasket and relief valve. I found the gasket as it had fallen between the cover and the intake manifold, I put it back into the cap and the problem went away.

I'm gonna switch lids this wekend and see. If its a drive I hope it can last until after labor day! I will try draining oil and see if there is some water in there.

Re: Drive oil reservoir puking!
This weekend I switched caps and noticed a missing gasket on the side that was puking. I tightened them both down real tight and no puke after running all weekend.
