454 Mag or 502 Mag
It is time to freshen up my 31ss Sea Ray. I know my boat is not a true Offshore but it is close(have to keep the wife happy).
I am trying to decide if I should redo the original 454 mags or spend an extra $3500 and upgrade to 502 mags. The boat does 59mph with Mirage 21p 3 blade props at 4800rpm. I figure with the 502's and the 21p I should get 63-64 at 5100rpm. Does this sound right? Will I notice better acceleration? What are the positives?
I really want to justify spending the extra money on the 502's. So any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance

Re: 454 Mag or 502 Mag
I would have agreed with Okie untill this last weekend. I rode all day in two identical 29 outlaws, one with 502's one with 454's. The 454's we obviously slower. Both these guys ran hard and the 454's got left behind all day. Is it worth 3500? Thats up to you.

I like the 502. More cubes are always better. 502 would also lend it self beter to future performance improvments when the time comes. With that said a 454 with a little head work would make a good performer also.
Oh yea you said justify the money and that would make my wife roll on the floor laughing. Boat and justify the money should not be in the same sentence.
Good luck on your motor choice. Nothing wrong with 31ss Sea Ray.
