Backpressure on a 502 mag efi
My 1999 502 mag came from the factory with straight 4" exhaust the transom only has flappers. It is very loud, and I like it this way, but an auto mechanic friend thought I might need some exhaust tips for backpressure. He says that most engines need a little to perform correctly. Is there even any baffles in the factory system? All I can see is the 4" rubber hose from the manifolds back.

I had a 454 mag which ran straight through and it ran fine. OK now I see "Auto mechanic" friend of yours! You don't need any back pressure to make a 454 or 502 mag run right. They are designed for straight exhaust.
