cooltoys61,
Those cams have been on backorder from Chevrolet for about 6 weeks. The good news is my info shows Courtesy Chevrolet in Phoenix has 6 in stock. The # is 1-602-248-7710.

What is the idle quality of a 454 or 502 using the ZZ502 cam?
I have one that I am thinking of using when I rebuild this winter.
Hoping the engine would idle smoothly around 800???

Yes it's pretty mild ,maybe a little more "rump" than 454 mag cam,,but I picked up 4 mph going from a 454 mag to my new gen6 just on one side,,now I fried my other old 454 mag and will put another rebuilt gen 6 on the that side. According to BAMs boat speed calc I picked up about 80 HP. I'm using the stock heads that I roughly ported(they are 230cc so almost a big oval)and I had the block decked .030" so I have about 9.25:1 compression.I think I'm around 450hp with very good torque. Only prob is I need to change modules to get less total advance. These vortecs don't like more than 30 total so I'm ideling at 7deg adv os so.It does idle well there but more advance on the low end would be better.
