Default Engine remove and replace

I'm having my engine (454 Mag MPI) pulled and trying to save some $$ by disconnecting everything prior to bringing it to the engine guy . Is the steering rack connected to the engine or the transom assebly?

Am I missing anything here ....
remove outdrive
exhaust
water inlet hose
fuel line
battery cables
wire harness
power steering lines
motor mounts

Thanks,
Dave M.

the rack is connected to the transom assy leave it alone.make sure you disconnect the throttle and shift cable.i find its easer to drop the manifolds before pulling.you might find ground cables.
good luck

Thanks Guys,

I got the control cables, they were connected to the riser. Should I disconnect the ps lines at the pump or the rack?

I always disconnect from the rack because the ps cooler would still be connected to the rack.

I left the pump attached to the motor and disconnected the hose ends at the transom cylinder. There is a connector that you can connect the 2 hose ends together so they don't leak everywhere. Removing the headers first allowed enough room to reach the transom.

Dave,
Take your back seat out; makes for lots of room to work.
I've been where you are twice this year. It will make your life much easier believe me...
You may know how already, but I'll ramble on anyway.
First pull off the vents on each side of the boat so you can get to the studs holding the side pads/panels. Remove the front seat supports and the side panels. Then unscrew all the little screws on the front holding the seat to the floor. Last remove the 4 small through bolts holding it to the sides. 15-20min with a cordless drill, Phillips bit, 7/16 & 3/8 box wrenches.
Good Luck Dave, I hope it's not too bad.
