Default stumped on rattle?

I just finished restoring a 2550 chaparral, and built the top end of the motor(454 bravo) The first time out i had an electrical problem which was fixed. the second time out, the buzzer came on from overheating. I shut it down right away and got towed back to shore. I replaced the raw water pump
(that was the problem) then started it with a hose hooked up. The temp is fine, the motor sounds good except a new rattle in the rear starboard side of the motor? It doesn't sound like it is coming from the valve cover. It is lower by the y pipe for exhaust, Maybe starter area. Im ready to throw in the towel!

Does it go away when you rev it up from idle??

If so, it is most likely the flappers in the exhaust.

it seems like it gets louder. When the motor overheated the starter got hot.
the starter drive got caught up on the flywheel for a second. Is it possible i broke a tooth off the flywheel and it is rattling around? the starter lookes hard to get at. How can I remove to inspect. I'm trying to go out on the boat tommorow.
