I just had this same issue over the weekend. This is an old thread but Im curious as to who else has had this problem. Luckily my bolt head snapped off and stayed under the detent ball and didnt go through the gears.

I had the bolt come out of the shift fork cam.
Luckily, it stayed in the rear cap area.
