Default Shift Cable Adjustment

I've reviewed the recent posts on this subject and still am having a hell of time getting full engagment - Forward Nuetral Reverse. I can get it so that either Forward or Reverse work with Nuetral and the other starts chattering like it wants to go in but won't fully engage, so now I'm stuck with only Forward and Nuetral. What is the secret and how this be so difficult? I spent over an hour of trial and error to no avail.

It appears that the shifter doesn't have enough throw. Its a new Gaffrig.

Help please!!

There is an adjustment back wher the two cables come togeather.
You can adjust the pivot point for more throw.
I had to modify mine to get better engagement.
( the slot wasn't long enough )
