Engine Coatings
What is everybodies opinion on engine coating? Bearings, Pistons, Rods, etc.
Are the major marine enginer builders using them?
Most people seam to think highly of them but I talked to one of my friends that builds engines for NASCAR. He said only about 50% of the race teams use them. He said the treatment puts the parts through an unneaded extreme heat cycle and the coatings can ruin the engine if they are not done correctly and come off.

I've been using engine coatings in my race motors for the better part of 15 years and your totally right if the coatings are not done correctly they can cause progressive engine damages one of the best places for coatings in the country for bearings are the Carolinas and as far as I'm concerned there is none better than Calico Coatings and HM Elliot . I always look at this type of technology as the price you have to pay for reliability and performance. I wonder if RM BUILDER uses these coatings also they really seem to have their stuff together to. Sincerely Laz Mesa
