Default Any disadvantage to Arneson drives?

Is there any reason that a boat with Arneson surface drives would be undesireable? Is there any advantage to the Bravo 1 over the Arneson? Any opinions here?

Matt

I had a boat with a single Arneson and LOVED it. It takes off really slow but once on plane there is nothing like it. I would definitely like to have another boat with Arneson's one day. The only draw back I could see is the price of props and the limited selection of props to use. But when it comes to high speed turns, nothing else will will turn as perfectly and as effortlessly as the Arneson.

Arneson's are great. The only downside is docking. A little slow to get up on plane. Magnum is right, the props are costly. Pic of mine below. I come up on plane at 45mph but once on plane can hold it down to 20-25 mph depending on the water.

45MPH and still dragging?! WOW! Perhaps some vent tubes would help that. Still cool ass all getout though.

HMMM, the only AT with Arnesons has a nice ring to it right?

The biggest advantage to a bravo drive in a high horsepower app is to the stock holders of visa and mastercard when monday morning comes and you have to order yet another one to be up and running by the following wknd,Smitty

I can't think of any reasons.

Is there a reason they tell me it wont work with a boat that has a notch??? Is it a height mounting issue or something with water flow under the boat to the prop??? I'd realy like to go this route with my 22 Stinger

Actually A notch is prefered in a twin engine V setup it aids in
getting clean water back to the propellers.

The hulls on mid eighties Hustlers were actully designed
to take full advantage of the Arnesons.
Such as modified Lifting strakes to act as a oversize pad and Notched
Hull. Transom angle and or wedges.

Speeds on these hulls with 600hp per engine gets you close to 106mph
with close to 20 feet of wetted surface.

These propellers are 18 inches on center and 45 inches off the back of the stern.
