Is there such a thing?
I was talking with a couple people this past weekend that are outboard racers.
I have always know that OB prefer cleavers, More so on Cat OB's.
Go to talking about cleavers on my cat for when I want to run some real speed.
Is this possible? With it?
Can someone toss out some ideas?
I have a 1999 Advantage 28' Sportcat with STOCK 502's
I am still running hte SAME props as when I brought it home 5 years ago. Only been cleaned up once.
Bravo 1 LWP 1.5 ratio with 28" Bravo 1 STOCK props.
Would like to have two sets of props, one to have a great holeshot for the local lake due to alot of no wake area and the second for the river or long running for top end.
Lets hear it?

I have a spinelli cleaver that I tried on mine. I found that I couldn't get enough bow lift to get the inital air pack the boat needed. Even after holding wfo for several miles it topped out in the very low 80's. Nearly 10mph slower than the bravo. To give it credit, the boat was still very slowly accelerating. The prop also slipped badly on planing and had poor midrange. The prop was kinda fun in rough water because it would spin up so fast that you thought you were going faster than what you really were. I'm almost certain that your best prop is going to be the bravo 1.

To answer your next question...I also tried a Hill splash of a Yamaha drag prop. The prop was awsome out of the hole. You could actually water ski behind the thing. But again, there was no midrange or top end. This one never hooked up like the cleaver and I hit the rev limiter around 60mph.
Now both of these props were for a small outboard boat. They proably didn't have enough blade area to carry a larger cat. There are some very large diameter cleavers out there that just may work. You won't find them used, they are bloody expensive new. I believe that Hoss has them.

Cats like cleavers!!!! A round ear usually gives bow lift, a tunnel set up correctly should not need bow lift. You can try outboard Merc cleavers or hydromotives for the best top speed on your bravos. Good luck.
