800CFM Quadrajet
Ok I am looking at replacing my stock quadrajet on my MK IV 502MAG with an 800CFM quadrajet. This is also a marine version. This is what I was told would come in the carb 75 main jet, 52k primary and DA secondary rods. Can any of the carb people out there tell me if this is a good set-up?? The price is reasonable $270.00. If this is not the proper metering rods and jets for a 502 I would appreciate your input on what would be correct. Thanks for the help.

Re: 800CFM Quadrajet
Do they actually make a 800cfm Q-jet? I thought they topped out at 750cfm...

Yes I think that they might be "worked over" 750 cfm models. Not sure though because I was just looking at the Edelbrock site and they advertise an 850cfm quadrajet. Also they made a 795cfm for GM truck applications back in the day.

Cord, yes, there were (2)different quadrajets, the difference was in dia of primary butterflys. Very few motors got the larger one from the factory.TMthunder-call brad urban at "the carburetor shop" in Ontario california(he might be long gone) but if you can get a hold of him he could tell you what sizes you need. I had one of these carbs once but i just can't remember what came in it,Smitty

Re: 800CFM Quadrajet
The last time that I talked to Brad, he said that they had gotten out of the Q-jet business. He told me that they found they were actually creating more problems by modifying them then they were trying to solve.

I figured the carb shop was supposed to be the q-jet experts so they could give him some place to start with his jetting(i might be behind a few years!!) Smitty
