I'm going to be jumping around on the post/history,hours so might get mixed up some, lol
Heres one of the oil test sheets,Port, this summer, they didn't have anything to go by,they told me they did in the beginning,
I would of thought they would of tested someone elses marine supercharged motor before, weird,so I guess I got a base line to go by for next test, I've got the other motor sheet somewhere I post it to, I'm fixing to pull them and tear down and see if theres anything wearing.I dont antisapate anything abnormal.
The star motor has been together awhile,Just for the hell of it I decided to do a oil analyse,no problems,I really wanted to know how much fuel dilution was in it,which they did not test, they claimed they didn't have big enough sample, whatever, they said what they think is a higher than norm metal in it,but again they didn't have a high hp motor oil test to go by.I cut open the filters and there wasn't that much metal in the filters,no were near like my nitrous drag motors, but when I looked under a magnifying glass I could see a little stuff that looked like antiseaze,I figure its prob normal wear on a motor that's been together awhile and being it needs boring/rebuilt,it has a real loose piston to cyc clearance.
Basically replacing I guess what ya call life cycle stuff, tappets, rocker arms, pushrods, valves, springs, retainers, rocker studs, guide plates, head studs, etc,oil pumps, timing chain, pistons and a new Dart block, the old block is all ready 60 and really didn't want to take a chance,I was told they have been going past 60 but I didnt mind buying new,
Going to send the Whipples back to Whipple just to get ckeck out since it has 7 summers on it,ill ad up the hours when I get a chance and go thru my book, notes
The Port motor if fresh with all new parts in it allready ,Ill post picks, hours etc ,and why later on,![EEK!](/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
going to inspect bearings,if there ok,Im leaving it alone, just re polish everything.
Also when I rebuilt the port motor I got Mark at Precision Marine to ck the tune up and see if it needed a recal because the last time I dynoed it was on the 93 oct with NO ethenoal, Being the motor was all new/fresh, it made more power,883 ,everything in the map was still good/fat/safe so it wouldnt hurt itself. He actually took some out of it also,I wasn't wanting to push it, guess Ive gotten over trying to push the Hustler and drives,Just want to ride now days and Ive picked up a new hobby$$.

The Harbor Freight on sale $79.00 1200lbs rated engine stands the head plate was flexing when the motor was fully assembled, after a few years of putting them on, I got scared, lol
Had a buddy weld on a 1/2 plate, around the out side and the inside and in the bolt holes, didn't need the hole slot since I am only rebuilding BBC ,We will see if its stronger, but its over double the thickness, also got grade 8 bolts![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Oh yea the Dart block is ruff!! it needs deburing bad,the paper work even says debur the cam bearing holes before installing the bearings, also said debur the main bearing caps bearing holes before re bolting the mains on, thats not all thats weird, dist hole needs test fitting, some thing about .090 clearand /grinding,,I'm not some big engine builder, so I'm new to these suggestions, I would figure it would be more ready to fit, Why do I have to do so much fitting/checking etc, So I'm ready to have to ck everything, even think I need to ck main bore, I know we are going to finish hone bore and the even said I need to ck SQ deck, Already know I need to deck the surface for the metal head gasket,RA, I also need to ck deck height.I guess thats what I call hotrodding, nothing fits
Lil
OK why do that not supply with the 135.00 as my kit the rest of the parts, bell housing dowel pins, oil pump dowel, rear cam plus, rest of the pipe plugs. Yea the bell housing dowel are diif on each engine build, bullshet!! even the head dowels ?
OK yea everybody says you want the piston in the hole, if its sticking out its problem to hot spots /detonation,We'll mine is 5-7 thou above the deck, everything has been smoothed over, and I'm running a thicker head gasket, never had a prob being from out of the hole, yea I would of liked to have 10 down but the motors had already been hurt before I bought it.spellcheck![Grinser010](/forums/images/smilies/grinser010.gif)
tell it likeit is
paper work says 260lbs
