exactly...another factor is the amount of sit time boats see...I have my gibson in a slip and its a pretty large marina, there are several diesel boats there, some friends of mine, and every one except 1 of them have a lot of issues and $$$$$$ the one that has the least amount is a bayliner with hino's...the fuel loves to get alge growth from sitting and lots of issues after that...

These guys were in the final tuning stages of a Duramax powered Mastercraft X-80.

Wake boats could be one of the best applications of a diesel. Heavy ballast added to pump up the wake pairs well with the diesel torque. Add to that it is not uncommon for competition, club and enthusiast owners to put 200+ hours per year on a boat. They could appreciate the efficiency as well.
