All 15-20 Optima Blue Tops had Issues.
I sold Interstate’s for years. Where okay because 2yr warranty, then once they changed to 1yr warranty years back…not so good. The much cheaper Walmart starting batteries where doing better. Much better. Who da thought.

SB,

I've replaced Interstates with auto parts store brand batteries in two boats now: AutoZone for our Rinker, and Sun Auto Parts (single location store in Sumerset, KY) in our PQ. So far, no Issues. To be fair, neither were cases of faulty or substandard batteries. It was just their time, and the selection was a matter of convenience in the moment.

Thanks. Brad.

Got 10 years out of a pair of interstate batteries, but the were taken out of boat and stored in house and charged once a month in the off season. Midwest location, no shorepower on that boat.

Ultraboy, thats the key, never let them run down. Never.
If you can get an extension cord to the boat, just leave the batteries in and put them on a 110volt charger.

IN a previous boat, I bought expensive AGM batteries from NAPA, made by Deka, so good stuff, but only a 6 month warranty. Never again. Either go cheap and expect to replace often, or spend $ for a real warranty.

To be fair, do you know if the water was ever checked in the battery? They do require service.

Or was it sitting drained for an extended period of time?

2 years does seem short, but if they are neglected, it's not Interstates fault. BUT... they were made during the covid BS and a lot of products were poorly made during that time as we all know.
