I went back to Hot Boat and did a search.
I followed the post for a few days as it all unfolded, very sad.
There were four people killed in a 30 foot HTM.
Here is a link to whats left of the unedited posts as it unfolded. Im posting this so others will think of the consequences of running these huge numbers.

I agree 100 percent, talked to DCB about an upgrade after the first season, just couldn't
afford it.

I have personally rode in many boats of all sizes and currently have a 35' cafe,so I'm not partial to any brand. I do know magazines routinely lie about boat speeds, and so do most boat owners. I'm also from the SHOW ME state,so I would say from all the facts I've seen running 9.47 at 127 in the quarter mile is pretty serious. It has my vote for the fastest and quickest boat in the 22-26 cat range. It would be hard to fool the IHBA timers. My guess is it took almost 1400 HP to get those kind of numbers.

There's no argument Steve Coulombe was an insperation to all power boaters. Before Steve, most of us were happy with our 100 mph boats.

I've been reading through the threads and thats always been my concern, running 140+ and all the issues you deal with. Who's testing these boats over the 140+ range, or is it B.S. that the boat manufacturer's are putting out, last I heard DCB hadn't tested a boat in the 26' class over 126! Where does the 26 ft DCB become a death trap, let alone any of the other boats? What speed do you have to exceed to find out! I think you guy's are on the edge and it's probably the liability involved that boat makers aren't testing these boats and selling them as safe to run in excess of 140+.
