Stainless Marine & HP
If you are running Stainless marine manifolds, which are you running and which riser are you using. Please also note your block and HP.
I'll be running 500hp 454(.030over) and trying to figure out if i should go w/ the long bravo riser or standard bravo riser set up.
Thanks...
Pics would help also... always like seeing pics.

Re: Stainless Marine & HP
If you go to the stainless marine website and do some digging, there are some frequently asked questions.
If I remember correctly, they recomend long risers if your exhaust duration is greater than 230 degrees

Hey Storm,
If you don't have captain's call, go with the long riser.
Just about any cam that is put into a naturally aspirated 500HP 454 will have too much overlap for the short riser.
I have stainless marine manifolds with the short riser, so I have asked the similar questions of our OSO gurus...

I would strongly recommend the long risers. Ihave seen reversion problems with [email protected] with a 112centerline with the long risers, so be careful.

I put a set on my Stock 454 mag carb motor last spring. I went with the long riser, because I don't have silent choice. Plus now I can upgrade a cam if I want to. Plus I think it looks better When it comes to spending money on boats whats an extra 200 bucks

Pretty much agreed on all counts. While I'm doing it, might as well do it right.
Just wanted some feed back.
I'll dig into the SM site.
Any other opinions on the SM exhaust?
Would you have gone another route?
And I'm not interested in Headers.

I am running stainless marine exhaust & it is trouble free. They are a little smaller on the outside making it easier to work on the engines, especially if they are close. They also make custom pipes for just about any application. You do the right measurements according to their instructions & they will fit perfect.

Hey Storm,
I remember that my 89 Pantera had the exhaust holes in the hull higher than standard.
Check to see if there are spacers between the riser and manifold on your stock stuff.
You may need the taller than standard risers when you buy the new stuff.
