spline engagement; bravo staggered
On the forward engine there is a bellhousing mounted carrier bearing housing with the input shaft that engages the bravo coupler.
The splines are 3 inches long. How much of that should be engaging the bravo splines?
There is also a couple inches of pilot shaft (see pic)with no splines, do they offer a shaft with more spline length?
Coupler splines. Aluminum vs. Steel. Better to have aluminum to let go rather stripping the shaft? Opinions?

Dont know .
It Looks like a lot of spline there . If ya think like on arp bolts it 1 1/2 times the dia for thread depth , maybe its the same ???

Splines are 3 inches long and 2.3 inches engage the bravo coupler.
I'll measure the diameter and see if the math works out.

Well your input shafts have 3.5" of spline on them. They engage 3" of that into a coupler. Therefore you need at least 3" of spline engagement. The more the better, obviously. The steel coupler with the snout on it is the best coupler to use if you are running a lot of rough with some power. You will not strip the input shaft reguardless. What happens is you will spin the rubber in the coupler assembly. Coupler problems are related mostly to alignment issues and lack of servicing and coming in and out of the water without getting out of the throttle. If your alignment is dead nuts you will be amazed at what you can get away with.
