Default Bilge switchs

Has anyone had any experience with the non-float style bilge switches? I'm re-rigging and putting in new pumps and was debating on staying with the traditional float style switches that Rule has or going with the sealed style. The sealed type that I have looked at have a time delay in them that seems pretty cool. It has to sense the water level for 15 seconds before it starts the pump and leaves it running 15 seconds after it no longer senses the level. They say this reduces the pump cycling due to water floating the switch due to the motion of the boat. Any help/comments would be appreciated.

Jim-

I've tried two different types--WaterWithc and one other. Wasn't impressed with either one. The one with the exposed button-type sensors would get something on sensors and would either not turn on, or not turn off. I was using that one in the A/C condensate sump and whatever would accumulate in that water would get on contacts--when I wiped them off the switch worked ok.

THere aret wo that I've seen I'd use next time---one is UltraPump Switch from Ultra Safety Systems. It uses an enclosed float and mercury reed switch--pretty solid design but pricey---about $130.

Also saw a switch by JP (have no clue who they are--looking at switch in Lewis Marine Wholesale cataloge)--it's electromagnetic.

Forget the computerized pumps--they are real duds in my experience--
